Ask for specific experience
“Multicultural DJ” is too broad to verify. Ask which ceremonies, communities, languages and music styles the DJ has worked with recently and what their role was.
Map the important moments
Identify entrances, family dances, ceremonial cues, performance segments and any songs that must be played in full. Provide pronunciations and names for announcements.
Plan cross-generational music
Mixed-generation floors often work best when the DJ understands which songs carry cultural meaning and when to move between languages, eras and genres without making the night feel segmented.
Coordinate family input
Choose one or two people who can answer cultural or music questions during planning. Too many last-minute decision makers can create conflicting instructions for the DJ.
