About Nitin
Nitin is a Toronto-based DJ, producer and label operator whose career combines club work, event promotion and record-label development. He relocated to Toronto in the mid-2000s after building experience in London, Ontario.
As a DJ he has played major clubs across North America and Europe. He is also closely associated with No.19 Music, the label he runs with Jonny White, and his own productions have appeared on several respected house and techno labels.
His Toronto importance comes from being active on both sides of the scene: behind the decks and behind the infrastructure that releases and promotes electronic music.
Toronto connection
Nitin Kalyan’s path into Toronto came through Detroit-influenced house and techno. After early record-shopping trips and gigs connected to Detroit, he relocated to Toronto in 2005 and became active as both a DJ and promoter in the city’s underground scene.
Notable public work
He later co-ran No.19 Music with Jonny White of Art Department, combining label management, A&R, event curation and production with an international DJ schedule. Resident Advisor’s event archive lists Toronto as his most-played region and Footwork and CODA among his most-played clubs.
