Clean music policy
Define whether radio edits are sufficient or whether the school requires stricter lyric standards. Give the DJ the policy before music preparation, not at doors-open.
Supervision and requests
Decide who can approve requests, who handles student conduct and who has authority to stop a track or adjust volume. The DJ should not be the event’s sole supervisor.
Production safety
Keep speaker stands, cables and lighting away from uncontrolled traffic. Ask the venue or school about power, haze, strobes and any restrictions on special effects.
Program for the room
School events can have fast-changing tastes and short attention spans. A DJ who can move between current songs, recognizable throwbacks and clean crowd favourites is often more useful than one focused on a narrow club genre.
