Toronto Venue DJ Checklist
A practical pre-event checklist for DJs, couples and planners to verify load-in, sound, power, parking, room transitions and production responsibilities at Toronto venues.
Get the venue answers before event week. The most expensive DJ problems are often logistical: inaccessible load-ins, unclear sound responsibility, insufficient setup time, missing power, parking surprises or a room flip that compresses the schedule.
Access and load-in
Confirm loading entrance, permitted arrival window, stairs or elevator route, cart access, loading-dock rules, vehicle height limits and where the DJ vehicle goes after unloading.
Sound and AV
Ask whether the DJ uses house sound or brings a system, what inputs are available, whether a house technician is required, where speakers may be placed, microphone needs and whether any sound limiter or level policy applies.
Power
Identify dedicated circuits near the DJ position and whether lighting, catering or décor shares them. Large production should be planned with the venue or AV provider rather than assuming standard outlets are sufficient.
Timeline and room transitions
Map ceremony, cocktails, dinner and dancing. If the DJ must provide audio in multiple rooms, determine whether separate systems are required or whether equipment must move during the event.
Parking and teardown
Confirm vendor parking cost/location, late-night access, teardown deadline and whether elevators or loading areas become unavailable before the DJ is finished.
