Plan ceremony, cocktail, dinner and dancing transitions without creating audio gaps or impossible equipment moves.
If an event moves through multiple spaces, decide in advance whether the DJ duplicates equipment, uses venue audio, or moves gear.
The four-zone wedding
Many Toronto weddings use ceremony, cocktails, dinner and dance areas. They may be one room at different times, adjacent rooms, or different floors. Each pattern creates a different production plan.
One system versus multiple systems
Moving the main system can save equipment but creates downtime and labour. Separate compact ceremony/cocktail systems often improve continuity.
Room flip timing
If ceremony and dinner share one space, the venue needs reset time. The DJ may need to clear equipment from the flip path or establish the dance setup before guests return.
Communication plan
The planner, venue captain, DJ and AV technician should share the same sequence: doors, speeches, service, room move, first dance and open dancing.
