Ontario provides online registration through the Ontario Business Registry. The province currently lists online sole-proprietorship business-name registration at $60. Fees and requirements can change, so verify at the official source before filing.
Set up records immediately
Use a dedicated bookkeeping process for invoices, deposits, expenses, mileage/travel, equipment purchases, HST collected if applicable, and contractor payments. Separating business activity early makes tax season and rate analysis much easier.
Create operating systems
Use standard quote, contract, invoice, event worksheet, equipment checklist, backup plan and post-event follow-up templates. Professionalism becomes easier when it is repeatable.
