Nathan Barato came up through Toronto’s after-hours and club circuit before building an international career as a DJ and producer. Early Toronto residencies and record-store connections helped establish him locally before his releases began travelling much further.
His catalogue includes work on respected house and techno labels, while his DJ career has taken him through major clubs and festivals outside Canada. He also has a long entrepreneurial connection to Toronto dance music through RAWthentic Music and later projects.
His profile is especially useful for understanding how Toronto’s underground scene has produced DJs who moved from local residencies to global house and techno circuits.
In Toronto
Nathan Barato developed through Toronto’s after-hours circuit before becoming an international touring DJ. His Toronto roots remain visible in his club history and in projects such as RAWthentic Music, while later bookings expanded to clubs and festivals in Ibiza, Miami, London, Tokyo and beyond.
On record
His production catalogue has included Hot Creations, Hottrax, Rekids, Saved, MOOD and his Roots And Wings label. That combination of Toronto after-hours experience and globally released house/techno makes Barato one of the clearer local-to-international career stories in the directory.
