DJ Insurance in Toronto
What liability and equipment insurance are intended to cover and why some venues or clients may ask for proof.
Insurance is risk transfer, not a badge. DJs commonly investigate commercial general liability and coverage for equipment used away from home; the right policy depends on your work, gear ownership, transport, assistants and venue/client requirements.
Commercial general liability
Liability coverage is intended to respond to certain third-party bodily injury or property-damage claims, subject to policy terms, exclusions and limits. Venues may ask vendors for a certificate of insurance or to add parties as additional insureds.
Equipment coverage
Home/tenant policies may not cover business equipment or gear used commercially. Ask specifically about theft from vehicles, transit, unattended gear, rental equipment and replacement-value terms.
